I met Dana and Craig through the Northern Colorado Trail Riders and this was our first outing together. Dana rides a DRZ400 and Craig a DR650, both bikes have been modified for off-road use.
We started out at the FR355 trailhead near Nederland, CO. Rode the FR355 to FR105 (both are 4WD roads) to the road that heads up to Moffat Tunnel. Then took the Rollins Pass Road (passable by most cars) up to where it was blocked by snow.
Took a short side trip to Moffat Tunnel, then headed south on Mammoth Gulch Road. Hit the Apex turnoff, but decided to keep going up where it eventually turned into a rough 4WD track, summiting near Kingston Peak.
Had a blast and the views where outstanding. There's still more to see in this area and will return to explore some more.
